My Story

When I reminisce over periods characterised by fulfilment and accomplishment, I identify an impassioned engagement with the creative arts. But how intuitive! As far back as I could recall, I have invariably expressed a heartfelt desire to encapsulate my impressions of all that inspired me through drawing. Though this persistent quality was not always observable through my art (oh, how we all begin as unskilled novices), the intention was consistently present.

Since then, I have persisted with drawing, working with a spectrum of creative media and subject matter. The complexity of drawing is not circumscribed by the simplicity of the medium, and it is this freedom which prompted an enduring fascination. It is discernible that I have an affinity for detail and realism. Fortunately, through continued diligence, pedagogic, familial and collegial support in high school I was able prosper these strengths and realize an exemplary standard for myself exhibiting artwork and selling to high profile people in 2015-2016. It was an unpredictable, but welcome series of events. The multitudinous opportunities informed me of the unbounded potential of creative advancement. What could be better than to expand my personal practice into something greater?

Since then, I have endeavoured to do just that.

Today, I continue to perfect my artistic practice by treasuring my affinity for drawing and sharing its value by creating for others. At the time of writing, refining my methodology in portraiture remains an earnest goal of mine. In my eyes, to experience and encapsulate an individual’s narrative, disposition and inherent novelty through portraiture is a highly involved, yet compelling challenge.

Although drawing remains a cornerstone of my current practice, my curiosity is governed by an open mind that is always pursuing new avenues of expression. I often find my imagination is saturated with vivid imagery, akin to a continuous film roll presenting precise framing, composition, movement and musicality that forms a creative vision. Where I personally cannot articulate this through drawing, I can satisfy these ideas through photography and particularly videography.

I am infatuated when I draw, photograph and film.

Looking forward, to create in a manner that is sincere to my vision will always be paramount.

Join me on this lifelong expedition to create and capture and allow the ripples of this journey to travel to unvisited shores.
